About Poker

Poker is one of, if not the most popular card games around.  Although the exact origins of poker are not known, it is thought to have originated in Persia, developed in Europe, and reached its current form in the United States around 1830.  Although poker usually involves betting, it is considered gambling, but most poker players will tell you that the game is all about skill, not luck.  Throughout all the iterations and different forms of poker, a good player will most likely end up winning and a inexperienced player will most likely end up losing.  Of course, the cards are randomly drawn, and a bad player may get a good hand, but a skilled player will always know what to do with the cards he was dealt, and inevitably will come up the winner after several hands.  That is why it is necessary to know as much as possible before hitting the tables.  You can lose a lot of money if you don’t know what your doing.  Especially if you are playing against someone who is much better than you are.
